the story

ABOUT •INT• Records

•INT• Records Ltd is an independent label and creative platform based in the South West, UK. The company was formed by the three members of Intrusive as a way to formalise and expand the business and creative practices surrounding the band’s operations, releases, branding, live activity, and long-term development.

The idea for the label originated with band leader Conaugh Denby-Lewis in December 2025 whilst studying a Master’s degree in Music Business. Wanting to immediately apply the professional and strategic knowledge developed throughout the course, the decision was made to build an independent record label directly alongside the band rather than waiting until after graduation. What began as an internal infrastructure project for the band quickly evolved into a much wider collaborative creative platform.

Early development focused heavily on research, planning, and communication between the band members. During the first several months, the project involved extensive discussions surrounding independent label structures, artist development, branding, distribution models, release strategy, audience growth, digital marketing, live promotion, rights management, and sustainable DIY music culture. The label itself became an extension of the band’s wider creative identity and long-term vision.

As the project developed, clear collaborative roles naturally emerged between the members. Sam Chapman focused heavily on the visual direction of the label, spending significant time developing logo concepts, branding systems, typography ideas, merchandise aesthetics, artwork concepts, and the wider visual identity surrounding INT Records Ltd. Much of the label’s clean but aggressive visual style was developed through ongoing experimentation and collaborative feedback between the group.

Alfie Johnson concentrated on documenting the development of the project itself through photography, video content, meeting documentation, editing, social media assets, behind-the-scenes material, and collaborative planning sessions. This process became an important part of the label’s identity, with the development of the business being treated as part of the wider creative journey rather than simply administrative work happening in the background.

Alongside this, Conaugh developed much of the operational and strategic infrastructure behind the label. This included researching company structures, organising the registration of INT Records Ltd through Companies House, sourcing office addresses, discussing funding opportunities, drafting internal legal agreements, developing release strategies, managing distribution planning, building the label website, coordinating communication, and structuring the long-term direction of the company.

The collaborative process also extended into the band’s recording and production workflows. Alongside performing as drummer for Intrusive, Conaugh has also taken an active role in mixing, mastering, production planning, and creative direction surrounding the band’s releases. The project has therefore blurred the lines between artist development, label management, production, branding, and entrepreneurship — reflecting the realities of modern independent music practice.

The formation of INT Records Ltd also emerged from the band’s increasing activity within the UK live music circuit. Through headline shows, regional touring, festival appearances, networking with promoters, release campaigns, and ongoing audience development, the need for a formal independent structure around the band became increasingly clear. Rather than outsourcing creative and strategic control externally, the members chose to build that infrastructure themselves.

Today, INT Records Ltd is officially launched and actively developing its first major project: the upcoming album release from Intrusive scheduled for release this summer. The label now functions as both an independent release platform and an evolving collaborative creative environment operating across music production, branding, visual identity, digital marketing, live performance, content creation, and long-term project development.

Built around independence, collaboration, and creative ownership, INT Records Ltd represents an ongoing attempt to create a sustainable modern DIY label model rooted in real creative practice rather than traditional industry structures alone.
